Giżycko’s cultural life is vibrant all year round. To ensure that our guests have an attractive stay in Giżycko, we organise various cultural, sporting and recreation events. The town serves as a venue for a number of festivals, concerts and meetings. Among the widely renowned annual events gathering thousands of fans every year, we have the “Shanties in Giżycko”, “The Mazury Hip–Hop Festival”, “The Giżycko Cabaret Night”, “The Mazurian Jazz Fiesta”, and the famous “International Festival of Organ and Chamber Music”.
Our town is well-known not only in Poland, but also abroad. The inhabitants are known for their hospitality and openness. For a number of years, Giżycko has had lively cooperation with foreign countries, including Germany, France, Ukraine and Lithuania. Thanks to the EU funds obtained by the authorities, Giżycko and the surrounding areas serve as the base for numerous international camps for children and youth.
The town has once even hosted an unusual event: a visit by the “Miss World” contestants. The world’s most beautiful women visited Giżycko to try its many attractions: they used the yachts, motorboats and water scooters, went diving, rode quad bikes and drove four-by-fours, and enjoyed themselves at shanties concerts. There were also hot-air balloon flights, horse and britzka rides, regional cuisine nights, encounters with the Galinda tribe and “storming” the Boyen Fortress.
